Garou Religion and Marriage Empty
PostSubject: Garou Religion and Marriage   Garou Religion and Marriage EmptyTue May 31, 2011 12:23 am

Lycans follow only one god, Gaia. She is Garou mother to their eyes. Garou are devoted to this God. She is also known as the Goddess of Nature, and it is seen that the Lycan's are her chosen children ,and therefore the rightful heirs to her earth.

Gaia is said to have bestowed gifts upon the Garou. Every auspieces has magical potential. They control their energy and the Elemants, extended it into Shadow and Darkness manipulation, and Theurges are said to be able to influence the light; though this is speculation, and not a proven fact.
The Theurge, obviously as Shamans, have conquered all their gifts, becoming Masters of the Elemants.
The Ahroun, bing more physically strong, seem to have no gifts. This is because they are the weakest in magical potential, and therefore do not deticate themselves to learning them. They have contorl of only one elemant, and weakly at that. Most scorn the use of the elements and their supernatural powers, seeing them as weak and also cowardly. If you cannot settle your conflicts with physical strenght, as an Ahroun, then you are not worthy of being such.
Everyone else, unless infleucend by magical items or means, are able to control 2 factors; be it elements or shadows.

Garou are spiritual creatures. It is said that they once were animistic spirits themselves, and upon entering flesh they retained their spiritual affinities and pacts. The culture of the Garou nation is centered around venerating various spirits that can help them in their war against the enemies of Gaia. While it is Theurges who deal with spirits most often, every Lycan has to deal with spirits, in order to gain favours and knowledge, and to learn Gifts, the magical powers of Garou.

The Wyld is the force of primal creation and chaos
The Weaver is the force of stability and stasis
The Wyrm is the force of corruption, decay, and destruction.

As written in the Litany, Lycans are unable to mate with each other. When mating or marrying, it will forever be with a human, though some lycans are known to mate with their wolfen brothers, as they scorn weak humans; though this is not always the case.

Lycan marriage is not the same to a human marriage. There is only one vow, and it is not seen a a unity more of a pact. To first marry, the participants must seek the approval of either their Tribe leader, or even the Alpha if the Tribe Leader refuses to give judgement or they wish to contest a disproval.
While Garou may not mate with Garou, it is not unheard of for lycans to make a bond pact. This will bond them, as partners and allow them to stay together. However, this is never an undying bond. The pair will arrange a series of time to make this pact. If they wish to continue, they may. If not, the pair seperate.

Where humans are concerned, the bond pact changes. Again, approval must be sought and approved of before the pair may consider it. If granted, the pair will arrange time with their Tribe Leader and Tribe Shaman where they will be bonded. The ceremony, is incredibly plain and simple.
The participants with hold each other by the forearm, stood before the Leader and Shaman as they speak their single Vow. "May I forever Run with you, and May Gaia bless us." some choose to elaborate, but that is by choice only. The Shaman will repeat the request of a blessing, while the Leader will pierce the skin of each participant on the inside of their left wrist, mingle their blood before rubbing in a strong dye like paste that will serve as a tattoo, indicating a the Bond Pact.

Seperations are only common between Bond Pacts in Garou, and not as common as Human and Garou bonds due to the tattoo on the inside of their wrists. Some, if they do participants, tend to cut the tattoo out.
